2008 WORLDS

General discussion about accommodation, travel, NZ entry numbers, coaches, funding applications, budget, boat charter. General feeling that a working party of interested parents should be formed.

Peter SaunderÕs email – willing to start making funding applications for coaches and any other expenses trusts may accept. Peter Saunders to lead the working party and delegate areas of responsibility to those who are already expressing an interest in attending dependent on their sailors making selection. Nick/Bernadette; William Bettle, possibly the MaloneyÕs to help.

Bernadette has started to put together an approximate budget covering: Accommodation, travel, boat charter, travel insurance, shipping, coach boat charter, coahes, meals/sundry travel and uniform. This budget should be circulated asap. Bernadeltte to email to CH to circulate.

CH to send out an email to all sailors asking for Expressions of Interest in attending the Worlds and Junior Worlds.

Preliminary entry needs to be in 22 March, part way through our selection trial. This is only a guide for the organizers and is in no way binding. Team payment and Final entry is by 22 June 2008.

GENERAL BUSINESS

a.  NZ 420 Assoc boat charter

General discussion about the Boat Charter Policy draft.

Amendments:

$600 deposit to $800 to be a higher fee than the insurance excess.

Òplus optional $100 (including damage inspection fee) if delivery to and from a venue WITHIN THE METROPOLITAL AUCKLAND AREA is requiredÓ.

Add in:

Return of Boat: At an agree venue, derigged, washed and in the same condition and including the same fittings as when originally chartered.

Include another copy of this policy with an area for the signature of both the sailor (or sailorÕs guardian) and a committee member.

Moved: that the amended boat charter policy be accepted: GB/WB

Presently one boat has been returned by Turners/Kools – BD to follow up payment for charter.

The second is with Mark Hansen – have asked to extend charter for use at the NIÕs in New Plymouth 23 & 24 Feb 08. Committee agreed on condition that the boat is returned to BD by Wednesday 27 February 08, that the $800 bond, and payment for weeks used are made. Also to be made clear that the boat will not be available the NatÕs. – BD to follow up.

b. Nationals 2008

Measurement

NOR states Measurement1200-1700 20 March, registration 1600-1800 20 March

and 0900 21 March.

-Put notice up at the NIÕs to draw sailorÕs attention to measurement requirements at the Nationals. CH to send notice to committee member attending NIÕs.

Make it clear that sailors must come to Nationals with pre-measured sails, foils, with measurement certificates (to enable measurer to check that weights are still in boats).

Measurement spot checks to be made.

Make it clear that measurement of new equipment is not an option just prior to the Nationals.

GB - Would like sailors to book a measurement time – would like committee members to have sailorÕs boats measured earlier in the day if possible to save time.

GB- submitted costs for measurement equipment and flights to date (TreasurerÕs report). Suggested he also produce a mylar measurement template for rigs.

c. Clinic Roundup

8 Boats attended the Akarana clinic – all payments received from sailors. WB to bank cheques from previous clinic – CH to follow up.

Club Series – CH to ask for Expressions of Interest from sailors for re-running the club series: MBSC 23/24 Feb – cancelled due to weather; Sandspit March 15/16; Wakatere March 29/30. 2009 – possibly only run club series after Starling Nationals.
