NZ 420 ASSOCIATION BOAT POLICY

 

 

The purpose of the two NZ 420 Association boats is to foster entry into the International 420 Class. It is also to assist sailors where short term boat availability is a problem; to assist sailors traveling long distances (eg South Island or Wellington) to compete at regattas or take part in clinics held in Auckland; to assist sailors who may be competing overseas in need of a training boat while their own is in transit; or to assist sailors in extenuating circumstances.

 

All boat use is to be agreed upon by at least 5 members of the committee by phone/email discussion.

 

á       Boats will be made available to sailors for a maximum period of 1 month, except in agreed circumstances.

á       Boats will not to be used for selection regattas, except in agreed circumstances – such as serious damage to owners boat.

á       Sails not provided.

 

Fees:

á       Bond of $800 to cover the AssociationŐs insurance policy excess fee in the case of damage.

á       A charter fee of $600 per month OR $150 per weekend

o    plus compulsory $50 damage inspection fee

o    plus optional $100 (including damage inspection fee) if delivery to and from a venue within metropolitan Auckland is required.

 

 

Insurance:

The boats are insured for damage by the 420 Association, the policy excess per boat is $600 – the charterer will pay a bond of this amount which will be held until it has been assessed that no damage has been done. Any damage up to the cost of $600 will be deducted from the bond.

 

Damage:

The boat will be inspected before and after charter in the presence of the sailors/charterer to agree on pre-existing damage and any new damage. The previously mentioned bond will not be returned until this inspection has been completed.

 

Return of Boat:

At an agreed venue within metropolitan Auckland, de-rigged, washed and in the same condition including the same fittings as when originally chartered.
