2009 QUEENS BIRTHDAY WEEKEND 420 REGATTA
30 & 31 May – 1 June 2009
Wakatere Boating Club
The 420 Association have
organised a fun regatta weekend to take place a
Wakatere over the three days
of Queens Birthday weekend, ( 30/31 May, 1
June). The idea principally
is to provide a venue and forum for some
competitive racing as well as
provide a chance for new sailors interested in
joining the class or just
trying boats, a chance to get on the water, while
both boats and experienced
sailors are on hand.
Saturday racing will start at
1300, with as many races as possible being run
during the afternoon. New
sailors are encouraged to come down to the club
and go out on support boats
to see the action on the water in a fleet racing
situation. Sunday will be
devoted to new sailors where they step into in
boats with an experienced 420
sailor to get a feel for both positions within
the boat. Short course races
may also be run. Monday will be further fleet
racing continued from
Saturdays series, for all those with boats including
new comers if practical.
All Worlds Team sailors are
expected to be there and we'd encourage as many
other 420 crews to use this
weekend to have heaps of fun on the water, while
gaining further experience
for the coming season. There will be a token
entry fee of $25.00 per team
for those taking part in the Saturday and
Monday fleet racing, this
will be put towards fees for using the club and
equipment at Wakatere, and
for the newcomers and sailors in their first
season this year, we may
provide a coach to help you around the track. There
will be no cost for newcomers
trying boats and positions out. For those of
you wishing to discuss buying
or selling boats and equipment, this may be an
opportunity to work with
prospective opportunities.
There will be no formal NOR
however we would appreciate all those interested
in responding to confirm your
entry for the weekend directly to me at,
p.j.turner@xtra.co.nz or call on 021 325 010 before 28th May.
For those of
you travelling from out of
town please let me know if we can help you with
accommodation.
For those involved with the
Association there will be a committee meeting at
the Wakatere club rooms
starting 9.30, a meeting agenda will be sent out by
Sunday 24th.
